English Countryside Wedding - Megan Laura Photography

When Natasha and Theo asked me to travel to England for their wedding, I knew it was going to be one for the books! England has always had a piece of my heart and for a bride to ask me to capture their wedding photographs there was a dream come true. Their wedding was absolutely beautiful, every little detail had been thought out to create a full-blown masterpiece. So thankful to have been apart of this amazing wedding – it will be one I will never forget!

From the Bride:

When Theo and I met while studying in a seaside town in Wales, we immediately fell in love. Between the years of long-distance and difficulties posed by immigration, at times the obstacles we faced seemed endless. So when Theo proposed five years later and we finally for the first time knew with certainty that we would never be separated again, it was truly a special moment for us both. We wanted our wedding to not only be a reflection of our immense love for one another, but also a celebration of the challenges we overcame to be together.

We decided to have our wedding in the UK, where we had met and where the majority of Theo’s family and friends live. Very early into our engagement, I stumbled upon a photo of the most incredible wedding venue – Almonry Barn. We could envision ourselves so clearly getting married in the intimate ceremony space, a repurposed hayloft filtering in beautiful light through its exposed wooden beams. After discovering it was located in a gorgeous rural village in the southern county of Somerset, I quickly snatched up one of their last remaining 2016 dates.

I don’t know how I would have pulled off planning a wedding in another country without actually seeing the venue or meeting any of the vendors in person, but thankfully I am lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing friends and family who helped me tremendously. With the help of my extraordinarily talented friend and bridesmaid, Lauren Polidoro, who is the genius behind Flourish Calligraphy, we focused on complementing the already perfect venue with beautiful yet simple designs inspired by the rolling hills of the English countryside. From designing invitations on handmade paper to visualizing flower arrangements full of English roses and peonies, Lauren utilized her attention for detail to style the most stunning day. This vision was really brought to life by Eloise, the wedding coordinator from Almonry Barn, who worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was executed perfectly.

Thanks to our friends, family, and amazing vendors, our wedding was everything we had anticipated and more. The bridal party got ready down the road from the venue in one of the lovely thatched-roof cottages that we rented for out-of-country guests. We had a fantastic time getting ready in such a quintessentially British location overlooking many wonderful gardens. The candlelit hayloft, where we recited the vows we had written to one another, was even more stunning than we could have imagined with elegant chiavari chairs and greenery running throughout candles lining the space.

After the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy wine and Pimms on the terrace, which had lovely views of the open farmland surrounding the barn, while we gathered to take photos against the lush backdrop.

Since the reception space, sitting inside a beautifully restored barn, was so breathtaking showcasing original stone walls and a romantic fairy-light chandelier, we choose to keep the table settings simple with ivory tablecloths and napkins. We focused, instead, on including thoughtful calligraphy details and gorgeous floral arrangements in soft yellow hues. The extremely talented Roberta from The Good Florist helped us choose beautiful in-season flowers and crafted the most stunning bouquets and arrangements for the day.

I was introduced to our amazing wedding photographer, Megan Bialas of Megan Laura Photography, through Lauren. We knew from her gorgeous aesthetic and knack for creating the most timeless photos that no one else could have captured our day quite as beautifully as she. Her talent and patience are remarkable and we truly feel so comfortable in front of her camera. We are so grateful to Megan for traveling so far to photograph our wedding.

Our wedding day was filled with more love than we ever could have imagined and we are so thankful to all our friends and family for all of their support. We both know it is a day we will never forget.

Kendra & Peter’s Niagara Wedding - Megan Laura Photography

This Niagara wedding really wowed!

Well well well, where do I begin. First, I have to mention how incredible it was to photograph such an amazing love-filled wedding in Niagara-on-the-lake!

After photographing Kendra & Peter’s wedding I now consider them as good friends, they are such beautiful people inside and out. Their love of God exudes throughout them. Having witnessed their faith-filled wedding brought me to tears. I remember while they were worshipping the Lord,  my eyes had a hard time focusing on taking photos because the presence of the Lord surrounded them so deeply. It’s always such a joy to experience ceremonies that are so powerful and full of passion.

To top things off we were blessed with gorgeous weather for their perfect Niagara wedding. We were able to use a local Centennial Park with a great weeping willow tree as a wonderful backdrop for their bridal party photos and portraits. The sun shone through the trees and made them glisten.

The evening definitely didn’t disappoint, as you will see in these images it was full of florals! Floor to ceiling- literally! Flowers hanging from the ceiling, tables full of lush blossoms, and a sunset that blew the guests away! What an incredible experience to be a part of! So happy to have got to know this amazing couple!

Last month I got the chance to photograph one of Kendra’s sister’s wedding as well! So definitely keep looking back to find a sneak peak from their perfect day at Cherry Avenue Farms. It was just as gorgeous day and full of love! I adore your sweet family to pieces!!

Rhoda & Phil’s Anniversary Session - Megan Laura Photography

Rhoda and I met each other a few years ago while she was photographing a wedding that I was in the bridal party of, and the rest is history!

Phil and Rhoda have been married for five years now, and to celebrate they asked me to capture their love in a place we all found inspiring just outside of our home town! We got stuck with a gloomy day, but that didn’t stop these two from dancing in the rain!

This gorgeous session was accompanied by a bouquet of beautiful florals by the talented Lief Floral. Beautiful florals draped in silk ribbon are always a lovely addition for any session!

Laura & David | Beach Engagement - Megan Laura Photography

I was introduced to Laura through a mutual friend years ago. When Laura reached out to me last year I was thrilled, knowing that she is such a genuine and kind hearted person. I couldn’t be happier to capture Laura and Davids journey to becoming husband and wife.

During their engagement session I could feel the authenticity between them, knowing that they share something special. Their giddiness and sweet smiles made this session one of my favourites!

Newlywed Requiescence - Megan Laura Photography

I want to start this journal off with something very exciting! I had a great opportunity to travel to Catskills New York to attend Ginny Au’s Loom curated workshop. This session was so special to me. The emotions, the soft music playing in the background, the smell of freshly made pizza and the atmosphere this real couple brought into the room was beautiful. It moved me to tears with how true their connection was. It was a pleasure to be apart of.

newlywed requiescence - Megan Laura Photography

It's no secret I'm not the greatest at blogging, but now that I have a new website and brand new look I set to make it priority and have a new blog post every month! I like to think I will start to get better at it make this a weekly occasion! MeganLauraPhotography-11   I want to start this journal off with something very exciting. I had the great opportunity to travel to Catskills New York to attend Ginny Au's Loom curated workshop. The loom series is a world wide teaching platform for photographers. Twice a year Ginny welcomes photographers to chosen venue for two dats of educational lectures, observations, shoots and camaraderie. In a small group, the attendees are welcomed into curated environments with the sole purpose of documenting the story as it unfolds. Ginny encouraged us to photograph natural movements without directing the couples. This gave us a whole new way of seeing beauty and the need for authenticity in our imagery. It's so important to capture peoples true personality and touch, instead of uncomfortable actions that aren't true to the client. This session was so special to me, the emotions, the soft music playing in the back ground, the smell of freshly mad pizza, and the atmosphere this real couple brings into the room was beautiful. It moved me to tears with how true their connection was. It was a pleasure to be apart of.
